Fall Wedding Photography at Locke Falls Farm in Wonalancet, NH | Bride and Groom’s Intimate and Private Moments On Their Wedding Day | First Look, Private Vow Reading, and Golden Hour Portraits
Every wedding, whether it’s big or small, is full of love, not just for the couple getting married, but also from close family and friends, and they are all going to be fighting for the bride and groom’s attention the entire day. Even though your wedding day is supposed to be about the love you have for the person you’re marrying, they’ll most likely be the person you spend the least amount of time with on your special day. That’s why I always insist on my couples spending the most amount of time they can together and have those moments be truly special. There’s not a ton of time most wedding days, but there are some magical moments throughout the day that will give you that quality time with your bride or groom. Katie and Jeremy took advantage of their time and got some much needed time alone during their gorgeous autumn wedding at Locke Falls Farm. I created these images while working as a second photographer for Marc Sadowski Photography.
First Look
The first look is a staple for modern weddings. While there are many benefits to adding a first look to your wedding timeline, the number one reason to do a first look is to have a private and intimate moment with the person you are marrying. I usually capture some of my favorite photos of the day during the first look simply by taking a step back and allowing my couple to be in love and in total awe of each other. Some laugh and some cry, but all couples are adorable during these few moments and that is why the first look always delivers great photo opportunities while giving you quality one on one time.
Private Vow Reading
Many couples share their vows during their wedding ceremony, in front of their family and friends, which can be extremely intimidating for many people. With a private vow reading, however, couples can sneak away to a private area to share their vows to each other in a much more intimate way. This doesn’t take away from the ceremony because you will still be able to speak simple vows for the crowd and keep your personalized vows just between you and the person you’re marrying. Here you can say the things you want to say to the person you are marrying, without needing to hold back or omit details you might not be comfortable saying in front of a crowd.
Romantic Portraits During Golden Hour
I know the first look and private vows break some wedding traditions, and that might not be for every couple. However, a romantic portrait session during golden hour is one final way for couples to spend some quality time together on their wedding day. I’ll try to sneak my couples away from the reception, just as they seem to need a break from their guests fighting for their attention. After you’re officially married and all of your nerves have gone away, with a full belly, and maybe a couple of drinks. When you are feeling your best and full of love is the best time for a romantic portrait session, and when that all lines up with a golden sunset, we’ll all be in for a good time. Then I can capture remarkable photos by directing my couple to walk out towards the sunset and simply flirt with each other and “be in love.” That’s when their authentic love for each other takes over and I just let the magic happen.
It’s important for couples to remember, while you will want to interact with all you guests and stress over what others will think, you must understand that the bride and groom are not “hosts”, they are the guests-of-honor and they should make time on their wedding day to celebrate their love in an intimate way. Your photographer would be the best person to talk to about how to incorporate quality one-on-one time during your wedding day. I always tell my couples one of my priorities is helping you enjoy your wedding day, and taking time to have intimate moments with your spouse on your wedding day is one of the best ways to do that.
